Bergamot Essential Oil
This valuable oil is used primarily for relaxation. Men like the scent as much as women. Also used when overwork or pressure affects the stomach and digestion. Useful for calming physical or mental agitation. Common ingredient of many modern perfumes and adds a wonderful scent to any massage or bath blend.
Source: Citrus aurantium bergamia is common in Morocco, Southern Italy, Sicily and parts of Africa.
Extraction: Bergamot essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the peel of ripening fruit.
Aroma: Bergamot essential oil has a fresh, subtle, spicy lemon scent with warm balsamic undertones.
Uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, vaporisation and may be added to base emollients. It may be inhaled directly from a tissue for emotional upset and negative moods. It is safe for home use if well diluted.
Blends well with: Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Ginger, Neroli and Sandalwood.
Caution: Bergamot essential oil may irritate skin especially if subsequently exposed to sunlight.
