Cypress Essential Oil
Cypress is a balancing oil and is valuable during times of upheaval. It has an affinity with the skin and the respiratory system. It has also been used as a purification incense since ancient times. The modern aromatherapist uses it to help individuals to clear their minds and achieve a more focused approach to problems.
Source: Cypressus sempervirens is native to the Mediterranean but is now cultivated throughout Europe and North America.
Extraction: Cypress essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the freshly picked leaves, twigs and cones of the evergreen tree.
Aroma: Cypress essential oil has a warm, woody balsamic scent with an invigorating effect.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporisation and may be added to base emollients.
Blends well with: Benzoin, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Citrus Oils, Clary Sage, Ginger, Juniper, Lavender, Marjoram, Pine, Rosemary, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
Caution: Dilute Cypress essential oil to less than 5% before application to the skin. Keep away from the eyes. Avoid during pregnancy.
